How MDM Can Help
In your practice, you have images that need to be stored and shared with others. If the images are stored on site, the IT expertise required can be expensive and is ongoing. If offsite storage is selected, costs dictate that images be backed up on tape at weekly or monthly intervals. While this is adequate for Disaster Recovery, accessing old images is not instantaneous. A request is submitted and in days or weeks the requested image is available on-line.

Sharing images is currently typically achieved by either providing access to your PACS or mailing CDs or films. The former option raises security and privacy concerns while the latter involves significant costs in terms of time and money.

The Solution - MDM Gateway
To solve storage and distribution issues, an MDM Gateway can be installed in your facility. This Gateway is connected in series with your modalities or your PACS. Images flow as normal but the Gateway routes images to a secure web portal created for you by MDM. Here physician-specific worklists are constructed for web access. The Gateway also provides temporary local storage and long-term spinning disc archiving is available.
